Winter Marketplace Funding Rejected By Minneapolis Council
(Minneapolis, MN) -- Minneapolis will not spend city money for a winter marketplace aimed at replacing the Holidazzle parade. The city council's budget committee rejected the proposal yesterday, with elected officials questioning why taxpayers should pay for the event and not for others. The proposal would have spent 395-thousand dollars from the city along with one-point-three million dollars in private funding to create a European-style marketplace.
