(Washington, DC) -- White House spokesman Josh Earnest says a federal court ruling on the healthcare reform law will be appealed. A 2-1 ruling from the DC Court of Appeals rejected insurance subsidies for coverage today on federally-run health insurance exchanges. The ruling says the subsidies can only be paid through state-run exchanges. More than 30 states rely on the federal government to run the new health insurance exchanges. Earnest said this morning that the ruling does not have any practical impact at this time and noted that some related cases are being deliberated by other courts.
