(Loudoun, VA) -- A Virginia state senator from Loudoun County is praising Syria's president and his army for protecting Syria's Christians and the small Jewish community in Damascus. The "Christian Science Monitor" reports that Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has posted the two-page letter from Republican state Senator Richard Black on his Facebook page. In the letter dated April 1st, Black writes about what he calls the Syrian president's heroic defense of religious minorities and affirms his efforts to take on America's arch-enemy al-Qaeda. Assad is sometimes referred to in the West as the "Butcher of Damascus" for his regime's bombing and blasting of Syrian civilians.
