U.S. Ousted By Belgium In Knockout Stage

(Salvador, Brazil) -- The U.S. is out of the World Cup after a 2-1 loss to Belgium in the knockout stage. Belgium scored twice in extra time to take a 2-nil lead before the Americans answered with their only goal from Julian Green in the 107th minute. Goalie Tim Howard made 16 saves for the U.S. Head coach Jurgen Klinsmann says Howard did all he could to keep them in it.
The U.S. was trying to reach the quarterfinals for the first time since 2002. Belgium moves on to face Argentina in the quarterfinals on Saturday.
