(Washington, DC) -- Presidential spokesman Jay Carney says the U.S. cannot confirm the authenticity of new torture photos from Syria. During a White House briefing, Carney also called the images "disturbing" and said they "cannot be ignored." The regime of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad called the pictures of apparent mass torture fake. Meantime, an international conference aimed at bringing peace to Syria is underway in Geneva.
