(Minneapolis, MN) -- Minnesota Twins general manager Terry Ryan is expected to undergo surgery today to remove his lymph nodes after being diagnosed with cancer last week. The ballclub said yesterday that Ryan will miss Spring Training this season due to the treatment. Assistant general manager Rob Antony will run the Twins until Ryan is healthy enough to return. Twins officials note the cancer has not spread and they are "very optimistic" that the 60-year-old will make a full recovery.
