Three Plead Not Guilty In Colby Fire Charges
(Los Angeles, CA) -- Three men believed to have triggered a massive wildfire last month east of Los Angeles remain in custody. Clifford Henry Jr., Steven Aguirre and Jonathan Jarrell all pled not guilty Tuesday to federal charges of illegally setting and failing to control an unauthorized campfire. All three face up to 12 years in prison if fully convicted. Prosecutors say embers from the campfire the men started in the hills above Glendora last month ultimately triggered what became known as the Colby Fire. The nearly two-thousand acre wildfire destroyed five homes and damaged 17 others while injuring six people.
