(Undated) -- Thousands of convicts are jumping at the chance to have their sentences reduced. Last month more than 18 thousand federal prisoners applied for presidential mercy in a new program designed to clear prisons of nonviolent offenders. The majority of those petitioning the President to cut them loose early are serving time for drugs. Yahoo News is reporting that many of them do not meet the requirements for clemency.
