Texans Head To Polls For Primary Election

(Undated) -- Texans are heading to the polls today for Primary Day 2014. Both Republican Greg Abbott and Democrat Wendy Davis are expected to win their races for the gubernatorial nomination. It's not known who the GOP nominee for lieutenant governor will be. Incumbent Lieutenant Governor David Dewhurst is being challenged by Land Commissioner Jerry Patterson, state Senator Dan Patrick and Agriculture Secretary Todd Staples for the nod. That race is expected to go to a runoff, while state Senator Leticia Van de Putte is running unchallenged for the Democratic nod for lieutenant governor.
The GOP nomination for Attorney General could also go to a runoff. State Senator Ken Paxton, state Representative Dan Branch and Railroad Commissioner Barry Smitherman are running for the nod. They'll face Democrat Sam Houston in the general election.
