Senator: Malaysian Jet Transponder Manually Shut Off
Friday, March 21
(Undated) -- Investigators are still searching for the missing Malaysian airliner. Republican Senator Saxby Chambliss of Georgia isn't convinced there was a catastrophic event behind the disappearance.
Investigators believe the manual shutdown of the transponders may indicate that someone intentionally diverted the aircraft. The jetliner with nearly 240 people on board vanished from radar nearly two weeks ago on a flight from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing. The search for Flight 370 is currently focused on a remote section of the southern Indian Ocean.
