(Washington, DC) -- The Senate could pass a bill to extend longterm unemployment benefits today. A bipartisan measure cleared a final procedural hurdle yesterday on a vote of 61-38. Longterm aid expired in late December. President Obama strongly supports the Senate legislation but it faces tough going in the House. Speaker John Boehner and other top House Republicans oppose the Senate bill, saying it should include incentives to create more jobs.
