Rep. Gowdy To Head Benghazi Committee

(Washington, DC) -- Congressman Trey Gowdy will head a new select committee investigating Benghazi. The South Carolina Republican was tapped by House Speaker John Boehner . Gowdy and other Republicans have accused the Obama administration of obstructing House efforts to investigate the deadly 2012 terror attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya. Four Americans were killed in that attack. The administration insists it has fully cooperated with the House investigations.
House Republicans are expected to formally authorize creation of the special committee this week. Democrats are expected to oppose the move. Democrats accuse Republicans of playing politics with Benghazi ahead of November's midterm elections.
