Rains Cause Sewage Discharges
(Minneapolis, MN) -- More than 20 cities in Minnesota were forced to bypass raw sewage treatment facilities due to heavy rains over the weekend. Minnesota Pollution Control Agency municipal wastewater manager Wendy Turri tells the "Star Tribune" that in most cases the sewage overflows did not result in restrictions on boating or swimming. Mound City Manager Kandis Hanson says about 20 homes are contaminated from sewage backups, and they will be uninhabitable until they're cleaned up.
