President To Raise Minimum Wage For Employees Of Federal Contractors
(Washington, DC) -- It looks like the minimum wage for employees of federal contractors will be going up soon. The "Wall Street Journal" reports President Obama will announce during tonight's State of the Union address that he is raising that wage by executive order. The current federal minimum is seven-25 an hour, and Obama plans to boost that to ten-dollars and ten cents for all eligible workers. Republicans have opposed raising the federal minimum wage, saying it will force employers to cut back on hiring.
