(St. Paul, MN) -- A ten-day crackdown on distracted driving statewide has resulted in 550 drivers being ticketed for texting while behind the wheel. The Minnesota Department of Public Safety adds nearly 14-hundred tickets were also written for people not wearing their seat belts. Office of Traffic Safety director Donna Berger notes the high number of texting while driving citations shows "far too many drivers still make poor choices." OTS officials attribute over 86-thousand crashes, representing 25-percent of all accidents, were due to distracted driving from 2009 to 2013.
