Police ID Gunman In Santa Barbara Shooting Spree

(Isla Vista, CA) -- The gunman who went on a shooting rampage near the University of California Santa Barbara last night is being identified as 22-year-old Elliot Rodger. Santa Barbara County Sheriff Bill Brown said Rodger stabbed to death three men at the apartment complex where he lived before going on the shooting spree. Brown says Rodger encountered and exchanged fire with deputies. He says Rodger then drove off before crashing his BMW. Deputies found Rodger dead in his car of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. A total of seven people were killed including the suspect.
