Pentagon Not Saying Much About Deadly Bombing In Afghanistan
Friday, June 13
(Arlington, VA) -- The Pentagon is not saying much about an air strike that killed five American troops in southern Afghanistan. Pentagon spokesman, Admiral John Kirby, expressed condolences to families of the victims.
Kirby offered few details in a Pentagon briefing yesterday. U.S. officials are trying to figure out how and why the air strike was launched on American and Afghan forces working on a security operation ahead of Saturday's presidential election. More than 23-hundred Americans have died in Afghanistan since U.S. forces went into the country in 2001.
