(Washington, DC) -- The Pentagon is confirming that a U.S. Army general is dead after being shot in Afghanistan. Rear Admiral John Kirby declined to name the senior officer or provide his exact rank until his family can be notified. Kirby categorized the death as being one of, if not the most, highest ranking military casualties since 9-11. The general was killed and more than a dozen other American troops were wounded when an Afghan soldier opened fire today at a military training facility in Kabul.
