Oscar Pistorius Checks Into Hospital For Mental Tests

(Pretoria) -- Olympic and Paralympic sprinter Oscar Pistorius is in a South African psychiatric hospital to begin a month of court-ordered mental tests. The 27-year-old athlete faces life in prison if he's convicted of murdering his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp. Steenkamp was gunned down on Valentine's Day of last year. Pistorious denies murdering Steenkamp, saying he thought she was an intruder and he fired through a door to protect himself.
During his trial, which began in March, a forensic psychologist testified that Pistorious had an anxiety disorder. That prompted a judge to send him for a mental evaluation.
