Opera Star Renee Fleming Among Super Bowl Pre-Game Performers
(East Rutherford, NJ) -- Soprano Renee Fleming is making history at Super Bowl 48. The first opera star to sing the national anthem at a Super Bowl game performed on the Fox broadcast with an Armed Forces chorus. She closed out "The Star-Spangled Banner" with dramatic flair.


Queen Latifah was also featured in the "Pre-Kick" portion of the event. She took the field at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey to sing "America The Beautiful" with the New Jersey Youth Chorus. The lengthy Super Bowl pre-game show also featured NFL Tailgate Party performances from former "American Idol" winner Phillip Phillips and the country trio The Band Perry. A host of other stars cropped up prior to the game as well. Kevin Costner, Jennifer Garner, and Denis Leary turned out to promote their upcoming football film, "Draft Day." Jamie Foxx, Hugh Jackman, Bill Murray, Kevin Bacon, and Harry Connick Jr. are also some of the celebrities who walked the event's red carpet.
