(Moss Landing, CA) -- Researchers at California's Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute say they found an octopus that brooded over her eggs for a record four-and-a-half years. The scientists found the animal in 2007, living in a deep underwater canyon. They named her "Octomom," and used a remotely operated vehicle to watch for the next 53 months, while she tended to her eggs. This reportedly set a record for the longest time any known animal has brooded over a clutch of eggs.
