(Washington, DC) -- President Obama says the U.S. and France are united on Iran and Syria. In a White House news conference with French President Francois Hollande , Obama insisted a diplomatic solution is the best way to end Syria's deadly civil war. He argued that existing sanctions on Iran should not be boosted while sensitive international negotiations continue on ending Tehran's nuclear program. Some U.S. lawmakers are pushing for additional sanctions on Iran. Meantime, Obama said he has accepted an invitation to visit France in June for the 70th anniversary of the allied invasion of Normandy.
