Obama Touts Manufacturing, Jobs

(Washington, DC) -- President Obama wants to push the U.S. to the "forefront of 21st Century manufacturing." In a White House event, the President cited a resurgence in American manufacturing in the past few years but said too many working families are still getting squeezed. Obama unveiled a new public-private partnership aimed at boosting manufacturing. He also announced creation of new manufacturing "hubs" in Detroit and Chicago.
Opening the event, the President joked that his administration is "building Iron Man." He added, "Not really -- maybe -- it's classified." Obama also praised retiring congressman John Dingell, the longest-serving member of Congress in U.S. history. The Michigan Democrat has been a tireless advocate for the U.S. auto industry.
