(Washington, DC) -- President Obama is meeting with the Dalai Lama today. The meeting with the exiled Tibetan spiritual leader comes as the U.S. is raising concerns about the human rights situation in China. The White House is urging the Chinese government to resume talks with the Dalai Lama as a way to reduce growing tensions in Tibetan areas of the country. China is protesting the President's meeting. The Chinese Foreign Ministry called it a "gross interference" in China's internal affairs and warned that it could seriously damage relations between the countries.
