(Washington, DC) -- President Obama is praising Minnesota for raising the state's minimum wage to nine-fifty an hour. Minnesota lawmakers passed the bill today which is expected to be signed by Governor Mark Dayton. In a statement, the President commended the move and urged Congress to "listen to the majority of Americans" who agree with raising the minimum wage. Minnesota's current minimum wage is six-dollars-and-15-cents an hour, one of the lowest in the country.
