(New York, NY) -- Almost 20-thousand New York City police officers are being equipped with heroin overdose antidote kits. New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman will provide one-million-dollars in funding through his Community Overdose Prevention Program. The kits will be distributed to patrol officers, and will contain the nasal spray naloxone . Schneiderman and NYPD Commissioner Bill Bratton say stronger but cheaper heroin is flooding the city, turning it into a major hub of the drug trade.
