Nine Dead Following Mount Everest Avalanche
(Undated) -- Nine Sherpa guides are dead and three others seriously injured following an avalanche on Mount Everest. A Nepali tourism official says a group of about 50 Sherpas were hit by today's avalanche just above a base camp in the Khumbu Ice Fall. Rescue teams are now looking for those missing. The Sherpa guides had been setting the ropes and preparing camps to get ready for the start of this year's climbing season.
