New V-A Secretary Visits Arizona Facility

(Phoenix, AZ) -- New Veterans Affairs Secretary Robert McDonald is conducting an independent review of V-A medical facilities around the country. During a visit to the Phoenix, Arizona V-A hospital Friday, McDonald said the agency is committed to giving veterans the care they deserve.
McDonald said more than three-thousand appointments have been set for veterans in Phoenix. Another 65-hundred vets have been referred to community providers for care. McDonald also noted that over one-thousand new employees have been hired in Phoenix. The Phoenix facility was where the scandal over the coverup over long waiting times for veterans receiving medical care was first exposed.
