(St. Paul, MN) -- As Minnesotans deal with the aftermath of Friday's massive snowstorm, another headache for many looms. Ice fishing shelters have to be removed from inland waters by March 3rd in the southern part of the state, including the Twin Cities area. The Hennepin County Sheriff's Department tells KSTP-TV that they are aware it will take some time to remove several of the structures from Medicine Lake due to the snow. The Department of Natural Resources reserves the right to fine shelter owners if the shanties aren't removed, and those could also be confiscated or destroyed by the DNR.
