MSU Mankato Football Team Agrees To Play For Hoffner

(Mankato, MN) -- Minnesota State University-Mankato football players are expected on the practice field today for the first time since the school rehired coach Todd Hoffner. Players met with Hoffner and former interim coach Aaron Keen yesterday and agreed to end their protest. Junior Sam Thompson said they refused to take the field on Wednesday as a show of support for Keen and to call for better communication with the university. Hoffner was removed from the team in 2012 during a child porn investigation which was eventually dismissed by a judge. He was ultimately fired from the school last year. An arbitrator ruled this week he was dismissed without cause and ordered the school to either hire him back or pay a settlement.
