(St. Paul, MN) -- Minnesota is one of the best states in the Midwest when it comes to state policies for pregnant women, new mothers and families. A report released Monday by the National Partnership for Women and Families gives the state a B- grade, noting workers in the state have greater access to family and pregnancy disability leave under state law than the federal Family Medical Leave Act. Another high point for Minnesotans is that all nursing mothers are entitled to "reasonable break time" to pump milk while their children are infants. Michigan is the worst in the Midwest and is among 17 states with an "F," while California has the highest grade with an A-.
