Menendez Holds Hearing On Crumbling Infrastructure
(Washington, DC) -- U.S. Senator Robert Menendez is calling for more money for the nation's crumbling transit infrastructure. At a Senate hearing Thursday in Washington, Menendez said the seven largest rail systems have 50 billion dollars in backlog projects just to put them in reasonably good condition.
The U.S. Department of Transportation recently released a report showing the nation's transit systems are in need of 86 billion dollars in repairs. The U.S. Department of Transportation supports the President's "Grow America Act" which would fund the backlog projects.
