(Washington, DC) -- California Senators Dianne Feinstein and Barbara Boxer are introducing legislation aimed at keeping guns away from people most at-risk for violent behavior. Boxer took to the Senate floor Wednesday, nearly two weeks after a mass shooting left seven people dead near UC-Santa Barbara. The measure also sponsored by Congresswoman Lois Capps of Santa Barbara, would allow family members and others to ask for a court order to prevent a dangerous person from either buying or possessing a firearm. The gunman in that mass shooting Elliot Rodger had been undergoing treatment for mental illness and family members were concerned he might do harm to himself or others.
