(Phoenix, AZ) -- Senator John McCain thinks it's time for VA Secretary Eric Shinseki to step down.
The Arizona Republican said he had planned to reserve judgment until after an upcoming hearing on the healthcare scandal in the Veterans Administration. McCain's change of heart coincides with the release of a scathing report by the VA's inspector general. It identified some 17-hundred vets who were not on any waiting list and noted others had to wait more than 100 days for an appointment. Up to 40 vets may have died while awaiting care in Phoenix.
