Los Angeles Mayor Reacts To Sterling Punishment

(Los Angeles, CA) -- Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti is applauding the harsh punishment handed down on Clippers owner Donald Sterling after Sterling's racially insensitive remarks came to light.
Garcetti thanked NBA Commissioner Adam Silver for "bringing down the hammer" on Sterling. Silver announced today that Sterling is banned for life from the NBA and the Clippers organization. Silver also fined Sterling two-and-a-half-million dollars. Sterling's problems boiled to the surface over the weekend after TMZ posted a racially-charged recording of him speaking with his girlfriend V. Stiviano. At one point Sterling told Stiviano he didn't want her to bring black people to his games. About 80 percent of the players in the NBA are African-American.
