(St. Paul, MN) -- State lawmakers have a bill in front of them that would ban anyone younger than 18 from using tanning beds in Minnesota. Parental consent is currently needed for those under the age of 16. Senator Chris Eaton of Brooklyn Center introduced the bill because Minnesota has one of the highest rates of skin cancer in the country. A recent survey found one-third of all eleventh grade girls in the state had used a tanning salon in the past year.
