Kerry Accuses Russia Of Trying To Destabilize Eastern Ukraine

(Washington, DC) -- Secretary of State John Kerry is accusing Russia of trying to destabilize eastern Ukraine. In a Senate hearing, Kerry said Russia is stirring up chaos in a "ham-handed" manner. He called it an excuse for military intervention, similar to events before Russia annexed Crimea . Kerry accused Russia of continuing an illegal, illegitimate effort to destabilize a sovereign state and create a contrived crisis. He said the U.S. and allies will continue to toughen economic sanctions against Russia if Moscow does not take steps to ease tensions and change course.
