Judge Orders Temporary Moratorium On Ohio Executions
(Columbus, OH) -- A federal judge is putting a temporary stop to executions in Ohio. The "Columbus Dispatch" says the order halts the scheduled July 2nd execution of convicted child rapist and murderer Ronald Phillips. The delay stems from problems with the January 16th execution of convicted rapist and murderer Dennis McGuire. Witnesses say McGuire gasped and convulsed for ten minutes after the administration of two lethal drugs before he was finally pronounced dead.
