House Passes Mobile Phone 'Unlocking' Bill
(Washington, DC) -- A bill that allows consumers to "unlock" their mobile phones and use them with any cell carrier they wish is moving on to the Senate. The House easily approved the bill Tuesday by a 295-114 vote. But the measure lost some support after Republicans added language into the bill that prohibits bulk unlocking of phones for resale. It's unclear if the Senate will consider the bill.
