Hart Feels The Love At NAACP Image Awards

(Pasadena, CA) - He may be short in stature but Kevin Hart is rising fast among the giants of entertainment. The comedic actor was named Entertainer of the Year at 45th NAACP Image Awards Saturday.
Fellow funnyman and show host Anthony Anderson presented Hart with the final award of the evening, which also included tributes to Best Actor winner and AButlerA star Forest Whitaker, the recipient of this year's NAACP President's Award. Also saluted were Hall of Fame inductees Paris Barclay and Cheryl Boone Isaacs, the first African-American presidents of the Directors Guild of America and the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences respectively. Oscar nominee and awards season favorite Lupita Nyong'o picked up yet another honor for her unforgettable role in the historical drama A12 Years A Slave.A ABC's AScandalA and its pregnant star Kerry Washington were also among the winners. And Oprah Winfrey and Stevie Wonder helped lead a tribute to South African icon Nelson Mandela during the ceremony.
Honoring diversity in film, television, music and literature, the 45th NAACP Image Awards was held at the Civic Center in Pasadena, California. The awards aired for the first time on cable network TV One, which will be the broadcast home for the awards for the next five years.
