(Washington, DC) -- Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel is defending proposed cuts in the Pentagon budget. President Obama formally submitted his 2015 budget blueprint to Congress this week. Hagel told a Senate hearing that the Pentagon and lawmakers must start making "tough choices" to reflect changing needs in a changing world. He said the changing needs adequately reflect this era of tighter resources. Cuts in defense spending, including phasing out some weapons systems, will be a tough sell among congressional Republicans.
