(Leiden, The Netherlands) -- A Dutch group is asking Facebook users to log off the social media site for 99 days. The creators of "99 Days of Freedom" say their campaign is in response to Facebook's recent controversial mood experiment on some 700-thousand unwitting users. In that experiment, Facebook studied mood changes of the subjects after seeing positive or negative posts. According to the 99 Days campaign website, over three thousand people are currently "enjoying freedom" and stand to gain more than 28 hours of free time by dumping Facebook for the 99-day period.
