Government To Disclose Justification Of Drone Strikes
(Washington, DC) -- The Obama administration will disclose its justification for using drones against U.S. citizens suspected of terrorism. An administration official said the Justice Department has decided not to appeal a court ruling requiring the release of a redacted memo detailing the legal justification of the strikes. An appeals court last month ruled the government had waived its right to secrecy by making repeated public statements justifying the targeted killings, like that of U.S. citizen Anwar-al-Awlaki in a 2011 drone strike in Yemen.
