(Undated) -- The Republican Party establishment is celebrating North Carolina state house speaker Thom Tillis' win in the U.S. Senate primary. Tillis won more than 45 percent of the vote in his race with Tea Party favorite Greg Bannon and six other candidates. That means Tillis avoids a runoff election and can spend the next six months focusing on Democratic Senator Kay Hagan. National mainstream Republican groups supported Tillis with millions of dollars and endorsements from GOP heavyweights including Mitt Romney and Jeb Bush.
