(Mountain View, CA) -- Google isn't saying what caused an outage that took down Gmail for hundreds of millions of people worldwide. For about an hour Friday, Google users trying to sign in to their Gmail accounts saw a "temporary error" message that said "your Gmail account is temporarily unavailable" and apologized for the inconvenience. The company says it's investigating the issue but still hasn't offered an explanation for the outage. GoogleDocs also suffered an outage and other Google properties like YouTube and GooglePlus appeared to load slowly.
