(Mankato, MN) -- Former University of Minnesota quarterback Philip Nelson is behind bars in Mankato after allegedly beating a former Minnesota State Mankato football player so badly he is in critical condition. Isaac Kolstad was kicked twice in the head and was unconscious by the time police found him in the entertainment district in downtown Mankato around 2 a.m. Sunday. A second person is still being sought by police. Nelson was Mr. Football in Minnesota in 2011 and started 16 games for the Gophers over the past two seasons before transferring to Rutgers.
