Incoming White House Adviser Apologizes For "Cult" Remark

(Washington, DC) -- Incoming White House adviser John Podesta is apologizing after taking a shot at Tea Party Republicans in the House. In remarks to "Politico," Podesta said the White House is confronting a "cult worthy of Jonestown in charge of one of the houses of Congress." Podesta apologized to Republican House Speaker John Boehner in a tweet, saying he has always respected Boehner. Podesta is a veteran Democratic strategist and a former chief of staff in the Clinton White House. He will begin a temporary assignment as a senior adviser to President Obama next month.
