(Undated) -- Evacuations and beach closures are taking place in North Carolina ahead of what is expected to be the first hurricane of the Atlantic season. Tropical Storm Arthur is close to reaching hurricane strength as it makes its way up the Eastern Seaboard. A mandatory evacuation has been given for residents of Hatteras Island. Arthur is churning off the coast of Florida with sustained winds at 70 miles per hour. It's expected to become a hurricane soon but forecasters say the storm may not make landfall.
