EMS Workers Suspended Following Staten Island Man's Death
(New York, NY) -- Four EMS workers are now suspended without pay as the investigation continues into the apparent chokehold death of a Staten Island man. The news was confirmed by hospital officials today. The four are accused of failing to administer proper aid to Eric Garner who weighed 350 pounds and was asthmatic and diabetic. The 43-year-old married father of six went into cardiac arrest last Thursday when police tried to arrest him for selling "loosies" or untaxed cigarettes. The NYPD stripped Police Officer Daniel Pantaleo of his badge and gun after the eight-year veteran was captured on cellphone video placing Garner in an illegal choke hold.
