Eight Acrobats Injured, One Performer Hurt On Ground

(Providence, RI) -- Authorities in Providence, Rhode Island say nine circus performers are in serious condition following an accident at the Dunkin Donuts Center. A Ringling Brothers spokesperson says this morning, eight female acrobats were doing a hair-hanging act. Witnesses differ as to whether a scaffold collapsed or a cable snapped. The women tumbled at least 25 feet to the ground and landed on a dancer. Officials and investigators are checking into what happened. Meanwhile, today's remaining shows and two others tomorrow are on hold.
